The Details
Dubai is extravagant, it’s fun, it’s glamourous, it’s the best holiday you’ll ever have if you love experiencing the best that money can buy.
Aside from the ostentatious display of wealth, here’s some of the things you can expect in one of the wealthiest cities in the UAE, perhaps even the world.
Safety in Dubai
It’s incredibly safe in Dubai. Even as the city becomes a global hotspot, attracting businessmen, investors, and holiday-makers from across the world, it remains literally untouched by crime that usually accompanies globalization. Dubai’s world-class police force has ensured that the city remains one of the safest places to be.
Weather in Dubai
Summer months can be extremely hot, but shopping malls, hotels and businesses are all air-conditioned to ensure comfort in the hot weather.
The desert in Dubai
Dubai is not just about shopping and modern buildings. A large part of Dubai is the desert, and a popular activity is a desert safari that includes an exciting drive over sand dunes, a visit to a camel farm and dinner served at a traditional Arabic Camp.
Food in Dubai
Dubai boasts many nationalities among its residents, each bringing a representation of their culture, and of course, their cuisine. Visitors to Dubai are spoiled for choice when it comes to food variety. Expect influences from India, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, and Singapore. Then there’s also traditional Middle Eastern fare to appreciate.
Shopping in Dubai
If you love shopping, you’re in for a wonderful experience, so bring enough spending money! The Dubai Mall is one of the largest malls in the world and is the world’s second most important international retail destination. From smartphones and designer labels to fast cars and luxury watches, Dubai has everything to please the big spender. Dubai is also home to the world’s largest shoe store, so start saving!
Gold and spice in Dubai
Dubai is known as the city of gold because it’s the biggest transit city for gold in the world. It has 40 percent of the global physical gold trade. Visit the iconic gold souk to see the largest gold ring in the world. Next to the gold souk is the spice souk which offers a mix of spices - a thrill to your senses.
Attractions and things to do in Dubai:
There are so many things to see and do in Dubai that we aren’t able to list each and every one. Here are some attractions that you should definitely not pass up:
Burj Khalifa
Dominating the Dubai skyline, the Burj Khalifa is the world’s tallest tower, standing at 828 metres high. This building can be admired from a distance, but it’s even better from inside. On a clear day, the view from the observation deck is breathtaking and definitely photo-worthy!
The Dubai Mall
Right next to the Burj Khalifa is the world’s largest mall, The Dubai Mall. To merely call it a mall is a disservice - even an entire day spent there won’t be enough to see it all. Shops aside, the mall is also home to an indoor theme park, an ice rink, a huge indoor waterfall, a choreographed outdoor fountain, and the Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo.
The Dubai Fountain
The Dubai Fountain is the world’s largest choreographed fountain system with jet streams as high as 150 metres in the air. Each colourful jet sways in time to various musical numbers, producing what has become one of the most popular shows in Dubai. Two shows occur, one in the afternoon at 1pm and 1:30pm, and evening displays starting at sundown and occuring every 30 minutes until the final song at 11pm.
The Palm Jumeirah
Palm Jumeirah is one of the largest artificial islands created in the shape of a palm tree. It’s known for its glitzy, high-end hotels like the sail-shaped Burj Al Arab, extravagant apartments and upmarket global restaurants. Beach clubs with spas and infinity pools turn into nightclubs, with live DJs on most evenings.
The Walk and Beach at Jumeirah Beach Residence
If you like to shop, dine, and go to the beach all in one location, a great place to consider taking a trip to is The Beach, opposite JBR. Weekends are alive with DJs pumping out tunes and locals enjoying the open-air cinema, while children enjoy the thrill of the water park.
Al Fahidi
One of the oldest neighbourhoods in the city, the Al Fahidi historical neighbourhood offers a nostalgic view of a bygone era with traditional wind towers and winding alleyways. Visit the Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding where you can partake in heritage tours and guided mosque visits to better understand and appreciate the local culture.
Dubai Safari
A visit to Al Warqa’s Dubai Safari, home to 2500 animals, will delight any animal lover. Visitors can encounter monkeys, lions, giraffes, crocodiles and more as they explore the park’s four themed sections: the Arabian, Asian, African and Safari Village.
