The first sighting of the Taj Mahal in all of its splendour on day 3
The Taj Mahal, an ivory-white mausoleum standing 313 square feet tall, was built by Emperor Shah Jahan as a show of his undying love for his wife.
Exploring Jaipur, also known as the "Pink City" ...

The Details
Welcome to India - where culture and tradition meet.
Over the course of a week, you’ll be discovering the customs, culture, cuisine, and way of life of the richly diverse and colourful country upon visiting three of its busiest and renowned cities: Delhi, Agra and Jaipur.
Your first leg of the trip is in Delhi. The densely populated capital, comprising of Old and New Delhi, is a city of contrasts.
Visit Old Delhi and you’ll be transported back to another time. The old world charm doesn’t stop at the incredible historic sites, but in the way of life of its inhabitants. The narrow backstreets are filled with vendors selling their wares of gold, spices and traditional, authentic street cuisine that you won’t find anywhere in the modern, touristy regions.
You’ll know you’ve arrived in New Delhi because the streets start growing wider. While there aren’t any distinctive boundaries separating the two regions, the area has a European and modern feel to it, and a very different atmosphere from that of Old Delhi. Skyscrapers, tree-lined avenues, and contemporary buildings are familiar sights to see - it's a modern city in a country with a rich and ancient history.
While starkly different from one another, both areas are treasure troves for tourists, and offer experiences unlikely to be shared elsewhere.
Agra is home to the iconic Taj Mahal. The towering ivory-white mausoleum was built by the besotted Emperor Shah Jahan as a declaration of his undying love for his wife, Mumtaz Mahal, in mid-17th century - can you think of anything more romantic?
The Taj Mahal is everything that has been said about it and more. Taking 22 years and 20,000 men to build, the white marble was quarried 200 miles away and was transported to the site by a fleet of 1000 elephants. The Taj Mahal is truly one of the wonders of the world.
Though the Taj appears to be amazingly perfect from almost any angle, it is the close-up marble inlay work that is really astounding. You will have ample time to view and be mesmerised by this outstanding piece of architecture.
Note: Taj Mahal is closed to public visits on Fridays.
While certainly alluring to tourists, the Taj Mahal is not a stand-alone attraction. There are also markets to visit, fascinating tombs to explore, and the mighty River Yumuna to behold.
Jaipur can be described as a rose amongst the thorns. Jaipur, or more commonly known as "The Pink City," stands out amidst the barren wasteland of the Thar Desert.
Why "The Pink City?"
India's famous "Pink City" received its name when its walls were painted pink to honor visiting guests Prince Albert and Queen Victoria in the 1800s.
Jaipur remains a majestic city, steeped in history and vibrant with life. Opulent buildings and colorful bazaars are all sights to marvel at, not to mention the cavorting camels and painted elephants.
Like Delhi, Jaipur is a mix of the old and new. While traversing the streets, it’s highly likely you’ll see laden camels or rickshaws riding next to swarms of bikes and busses.
The city’s top attractions, the City Palace and the Amber Fort, are absolute gems.
The City Palace is a palace complex comprising of the famous 'Chandra Mahal' and 'Mubarak Mahal,' built by the royal family in 1729 to house the then royal family (and still does today).
It’s ornately designed to Mughal style, adorned with mirrors, lattice and murals.
The Amber Fort is one of the most popular tourist destinations just outside Jaipur. Made of red and white sandstone and built on a hill, the fort, in all its grandeur, is unmissable.
There are very few cities that offer so much variety, excitement, and cultural immersion - it is certainly a bucket-list city to visit.

The tour to Imperial Delhi will include a visit to the Qutub Minar, which is the tallest stone tower in India. The Qutub Minar was started in 1199 AD by Qutub-ud-Din Aibak, and completed by the sultan's successor and son-in-law, Iltutmish. Once on top, stroll through the sprawling complex of courtyards and halls. Many of the rooms have delightful wall paintings, with precious stones and mirrors inlaid in the walls. Most fascinating, perhaps, is the Sheesh Mahal (hall of mirrors) where a single lamplight is reflected in the many mirrors, lighting up the room.
In the afternoon, you will visit the city of Jaipur. Among the highlights to be seen while touring Jaipur is the City Palace, which is an overwhelming complex of exquisite palaces, gardens and courtyards, decorative art and carved doorways. The palace museum houses collections of rare manuscripts, armoury, costumes, carpets and miniature paintings. You will also have the opportunity to wander about the local markets.
You will return to your hotel after the sightseeing tour of Jaipur City.
